Chavez Chills with Sean Penn

Rabble-rousing actor/Madonna ex Sean Penn is taking his show on the road -- with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. The politically-charged star has been hanging with Venezuela's socialist leader during a tour of the Venezuelan countryside.

The Chavez-Penn love affair was sparked, said Chavez, because Penn is "anti-Bush." Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte have also had face time with the Venezuelan leader.

Said Penn of his visit: "I'm also here as a journalist and so I owe it to that medium to wait until I've digested, fact-checked and finished my journey here" before saying more. The "Mystic River" actor has also done reporting stints in Iran and Iraq.

76. What are you people ignorant, are we all puppets?? Bush is a liar on every level and I applaude Mr. Penn for sticking his neck out to enrich his beliefs. DO NOT BE AFRAID of education and ALWAYS ask questions of our Governments and hold them accountable. Does that make us un american??

77. There is nothing wrong with a dissenting opinion, but when you go to the enemy to help promote it....that screams of a lack of patriotism. It's a shame. I always liked Sean Penn. Has hatred made him freakin' crazy? Ya gotta wonder. What posesses a man to pull off a stunt like this? He obviously has a goal in mind. What does Hugo have that Sean wants? What is there to gain? Who does it help? Does it help the democrats to have him down there? I would hardly think so. Chavez is an enemy to this country and NO democrat running for office would be caught dead with Sean at this time. Look at these posts. Most people hate what Chavez stands for. Someone needs to put a muzzle on him before he hurts himself LOL. JMHO

80. It surprises but warms my heart to read so many who see Sean Penn and many entertainment people--who think they are Ph.D's in politics (many of whom dropped out of high school) for the ungrateful, uneducated, unamerican antics they pull. I certainly agree with the person who said he should go live in Venezuela.

81. - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/oilwars/income.jpg
This chart, from the private firms of AC Nielsen and Datos, shows how Chavez has raised the REAL income of the lowest half of the Venezuelan population by 130% over the past few years.

Remember, social class A is the wealthiest and it works its way down to social class E which is the poorest. Keeping that in mind what do we see? Well, social class E had been growing steadily from the 1970s through the beginning of Chavez's term. That is the bulk of the Venezuelan people had been getting poorer for at least the last three decades - and this is reflected in the steady growth of social class E. Immediately before Chavez came to office in 1998 social class E was 52% of the population. Finally Chavez has reversed the three decade trend and social class E has now dropped to 45.7% of the population - as people move up to higher income classes!!

82. thanks #75. People are so excited to defend Sean Penn because he hates Bush so he must be a good guy. (lame). Didn't Chavez just shut down a popular TV station in Venezuela because they were speaking out against his corrupt government?

83. Sean Penn hates the United states of America. It is obvious that he doesn't respect this country, it's people, idiology and its leaders. He should leave this country where he has become a multi millionaire and go live in Venezuela where he can give us his freedom and much of his personal wealth.
I for one will NEVER go see another film that Sean Penn is in or do anything to further support this traitor. I would hope that others do the same. We need to send a message to this piece of crap of a human being.

84. Sean Penn should make one more movie, actually a short film, titled "The Execution of Sean Penn For Sedition During A Time Of War." I'm sure we would pay to see that.

85. Sean Penn is a pathetic fool. If he lived in Venezuela and spoke out about Chavez, he would be tortured and then murdered in public. These Hollywood lefties and nothing but a bunch of naive, selfish slobs. I would put Streisand at the top of the list. Im still waiting for her to leave the USA, as she promised.

86. Wait a minute. Since when has Chavez been considered by everyone to be so evil? He's the democratically elected leader of a oil-rich country who's using those resources to benefit over half the population that's living in poverty. If you compare him to Bush, who stole the election in 2000, and has perpetrated innumerable violations of our constitution, you have to question who the true dictator is!

Are you all mad? Chavez's crime: helping the poor. Bush's crime: lying to Americans in order to conduct an illegal, immoral war which is leading to the death of thousands of innocent Americans and Iraqis. I wish we were as intelligent as the people of Venezuela when it comes to electing our next President!

87. The U.S. should have invaded Venezuela instead of Iraq. There's much more on-the-ground support for American-style democracy in Venezueal than there ever will be in the middle East. At the very least, everyone needs to boycott Citgo. Chavez owns the frickin' company!!!

Posted at 5:57PM on Aug 4th 2007 by Boycott Citgo

88. Don't forget that Sean Penn is the son of Leo Penn, who was a staunch supporter of Stalin at the time the Russian dictator was slaughtering millions of people. Leo, as well many (not all) Hollywood celebrities, conveniently looked the other way during this horrific period and refused to criticize Stalin for this massacre. These American celebrities were wined and dined by the Soviets as a payment for their support of Stalin's murder of millions of innocent men, women and children. Leo was rather famous as an enemy of all things American. Oh, I remember this traitor very well indeed. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?

89. #94 Do you prefer the Bush familly?

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

Rumours of a link between the US first family and the Nazi war machine have circulated for decades. Now the Guardian can reveal how repercussions of events that culminated in action under the Trading with the Enemy Act are still being felt by today's president...

...His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act,,,

90. Are you kidding? Are you the same folk who support Bush in the Iraq war and every other mess he has put us in.
Nothing wrong with Sean Penn checking out the facts. We should have more people to question rather than jump on a Bush wagon.
Maybe if we ourselves took alook instead of listening to what were told. we may be become a much wiser and peaceful world to live. Peace !
