Chavez Chills with Sean Penn

Rabble-rousing actor/Madonna ex Sean Penn is taking his show on the road -- with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. The politically-charged star has been hanging with Venezuela's socialist leader during a tour of the Venezuelan countryside.

The Chavez-Penn love affair was sparked, said Chavez, because Penn is "anti-Bush." Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte have also had face time with the Venezuelan leader.

Said Penn of his visit: "I'm also here as a journalist and so I owe it to that medium to wait until I've digested, fact-checked and finished my journey here" before saying more. The "Mystic River" actor has also done reporting stints in Iran and Iraq.

331. #325 Hugo Chavez has shut down tv stations that say thing that are negative towards him. People who speak out against him have been thrown into jail. Hugo Chavez was happy that 9/11 happened to the USA. Sean Peen, Danny Glover and the others that think Hugo Chavez is a good leader and person are cowards along with Chevez. We have free speech here---as long as The Fairness Doctrine is not brought back by the librals.

332. I cant understand what these people are thinking. If they hate America so much why dont they just get out. I will not be watching ant more of Sean Penn's movies. I wonder if his wife feels the same as he does?

333. It's a shame that the great actors are gone. Many actors signed up and served in WW2. Big actors like Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, Wm Holden, etc. There were a lot more that did, and served honorably. I heard of NOT ONE actor sign up and go to Afghanastan after 911. I'm not talking about Iraq, I'm just talking about AFGHANASTAN. Those days are gone. Sean Penn is just one example of actors today, so self-absorbed, saying a few lines for millions. Shows you where their REAL priorities are. You never see most of these actors today helping anyone in the USA, only other countries. I only watch movies anymore from the golden days of acting, when actors were true patriots, and not so self-serving.
I wish that Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Martin Sheen, Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin, etc. would all join Sean Penn and stay there for good!
And by the way, this hate speech towards our President has to stop. Consider what you are doing to your children by practicing such hateful speech. Yes, you are entitled to it, but enough is enough. One thing that is missing in our country these days is RESPECT. Please try it.

335. This was sent to me awhile back. After reading #331, I thought it adds a little to those comments.
In a time when many Hollywood stars served their country in the armed forces often in rear echelon posts where they were carefully protected, only to be trotted out to perform for the cameras in war bond promotions, Lee Marvin was a genuine hero. He won the Navy Cross at Iwo Jima. There is only one higher Naval award... the Medal Of Honor! Dialog from "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson": His guest was Lee Marvin. Johnny said, "Lee, I'll bet a lot of people are unaware that you were a Marine in the initial landing at Iwo Jima ..and that during the course of that action you earned the Navy Cross and were severely wounded" "Yeah, yeah... I got shot square in the bottom and they gave me the Cross for securing a hot spot about halfway up Suribachi. Bad thing about getting shot up on a mountain is guys getting' shot hauling you down. But,Johnny, at Iwo I served under the bravest man I ever knew... We both got the Cross the same day, but what he did for his Cross made mine look cheap in comparison. That dumb guy actually stood up on Red beach and directed his troops to move forward and get the hell off the beach. Bullets flying by, with mortar rounds landing everywhere and he stood there as the main target of gunfire so that he could get his men to safety. He did this on more than one occasion because his men's safety was more important than his own life.
That Sergeant and I have been lifelong friends. When they brought me off Suribachi we passed the Sergeant and he lit a smoke and passed it to me, lying on my belly on the litter and said, "Where'd they get you Lee?" "Well Bob... if you make it home before me, tell Mom to sell the outhouse!"
Johnny, I'm not lying, Sergeant Keeshan was the bravest man I ever knew.
The Sergeant's name is Bob Keeshan. You and the world know him as Captain Kangaroo."

340. #67 & #73!!
Where the hell do you live?? HOW ON EARTH YOU 2 DARE TO SAY CHAVEZ IS GREAT AND VENEZUELANS LOVE HIM? It disgusts me how ignorant you are. Chavez doesn't have 71% of support (go check your facts) and he has proved many times that he seeks power like gold and he trully doesn't care about ANYONE in Venezuela. I'm sure you're one of those who are VERY "REVOLUTIONARY" driving your big Hommer around all the cities in Venezuela!! You talk exactly like the brain-washed chavez supporters... Go and get yourself a LIFE! YOU LOVE AMERICA, YOU LOVE TO GO THERE ON VACATION AND ALL YOU EAT IS IMPORTED FROM AMERICA! So PLEASE STOP THAT CRAP LIKE YOU HATE AMERICA! you're just full of s**t

341. I live in Sweden and it is scary to once again see how extremely fanatic the Americans are becoming. Don't you guys live in a democracy anymore where everyone has a right to be heard and where you can communicate freely with other people, even if their name happens to be Hugo Chavez? Please check your attitude and do not call Penn traitor only because he wants to get info firsthand! You are your own worst enemies!

Posted at 1:57AM on Aug 8th 2007 by open mind

342. Well Ms. or Mr. Sweden (#342), I guess we should just follow the example of your country and the rest of Europe. After all, the Muslim take over can't be all that bad! You know...it's not too late -- Europe's not completely lost. To save yourselves you just might want to read the book "Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America" by Brigitte Gabriel.

The fact is Penn is a traitor and during any other time of war he would be tried for treason. He's basically empowering a dictator and by bashing Bush during a time of war, he's certainly empowering our enemies. Since I have family serving in the military in Iraq, I especially care about these things. A president who's constantly undermined, attacked and weakened by fellow Americans, is less effective at his job -- which makes my relative's job a lot tougher AND more dangerous. Penn's actions are therefore unforgivable. I'm only glad that he's showing his true colors (and they certainly aren't red, white and blue). It's amazing to me that Hollywood is so bias and so filled with individuals with similar perspectives as Penn's and yet they wonder why fewer and fewer people are seeing their self-righteous movies with the same old liberal messages. Geez it's tiring! I'm fed-up and I certainly don't bother going to the movies as much anymore.

A perfect example is "A Mighty Heart". How could any reasonable person turn the story of Daniel Pearl's tragedy into a "gee, it's OUR fault for doing things that pissed the terrorists off and caused them to kill us (Daniel Pearl)?" Amazing!! Talk about blaming the victim!!! America, please wake-up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please stop accepting the sick anti-Amercian messages of the news media (NBC, CBS, ABC, NY Times...) and Hollywood.

344. After reading quite a few of these comments, it seems to me that my fellow Americans are ready to have their cloudy bubbles burst. You guys seem more and more inclined to believe whatever the government wants you to believe and you suck for that. You guys seem more and more like a herd of defenseless sheep. I have become sick of how this country has become so weak. Do you guys even know that this government of ours put Chavez where’s he’s at right now? Do you know that we put Saddam Hussein in power too? Do you know that we still do business with the rest of Osama Bin Laden’s family? Do you know that the taxes you pay on your personal income is unconstitutional? Do you sheep know anything? Leave Sean Penn alone….He’s just using his American’s God given right to choose what to believe. You hopeless fools don’t understand anything but what you’re told. I bet you think we couldn’t have avoided WWII, Vietnam, or Korea. I bet you believe that we had to fight Iraq twice. Don’t you? You guys remind me of that poor woman Terry Shiavo, is that her name? Why don’t you stupid critics just go back to what you’re really good at…grazing in the meadows waiting for your turn to become my next rack of lamb or lamb stew? I bet you think George Bush is smart too, don’t you? You should read comments 339 and 341. Just try ‘em on for size, you might be surprised at how well they fit!! Good bah-bah-aye you mindless freaks.

345. I'm not American, I'm Venezuelan. I live here in Caracas, and let me tell ya: This is a dictadure disguise in democracy. Sean Pean WILL NEVER see that in just four days hanging out with Chavez; he doesn't know how hard is to live here with all the freedom of speech been taken slowly from us, for example.Chavez closed a Tv Station, the oldest in Venezuela, and now that station airs through Cable Sistem but Chavez is just steps away to close it all over again; there are a lot of persecuted journalist, some self-exiled journalist and political, tv and business personalities because of the persecution of this government, and I beat Sean Pean doesn't have a clue of that! This is THE WORST gorvernment in Venezuelan history, which stands up only because they have all the powers and cheated on the elections of Dec. 2006. What is happening in my country is painful, u cannot imagine it, neither can almighty Sean Pean. Besides, since when Sean is journalist?? Isn't he an actor?? What is this??? I used to love Sean, and he's a terrific actor, but I'm so dissapointed and pissed... I don't think I'll never see another one of his movies... and as you, I believe his a taritor of his country, and I'm not saying this to "kiss ass" or someting, is the true.
Shame on you Sean! VIVA VENEZUELA LIBRE!!!!!
